And now we rest………

Well today we did full flood prepare………last night when we went to bed everything seemed to be in control with what they were predicting….I thought we would be safe………….then about 1 am it started raining, all night we had thunderstorms passing thru…………..2.5 inches later, they revised there flood forecast……up another foot on the crest………………

 

So this am we called in a bunch of favors from our friends and put them to work emptying the contents of the shop of anything that would be in harms way………with this new level we will have water in the shop…….we got as much as we could out of the yard…….we have equipment parked on the road coming into our place…..it should be high and dry there.    We have done an much as we could to prepare for the rising water.

 

Here’s a few photos I captured today when I had the time.   Here’s the sign today….here’s yesterdays………we’re up about 1.5 feet in dept of the water……I’m sure most of this sign will be covered when we wake up in the morning.

 

 

The only bad thing………as if this isn’t bad enough……is more rain is expected tonight……WE REALLY DON’T NEED any more rain.

 

Late this afternoon the water started coming into the yard.

This was taken out the window of our second story.  I’m sure by morning this will look different.

 

Equipment leaving the yard……..for those of you who are not involved in farming….there’s about $200,000 in that tractor and field cultivator…..so getting as much stuff out of here is worth it.      

 

 

I took my daughter into town late this afternoon…..she’ll be staying to town with Grandma…….in a high spot of the town………

 

 

 

 

This is what it looked like for me driving back to my home…..this road is the last way for us to get into here……..by morning this will be under water.    If we leave now it will be by boat…….my DH will go back and forth by boat as needed………..our son decided to stay with us here as there won’t be any school for the next couple of days.  As soon as school is back in session we’ll boat him out and he’ll join his sister in town.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here’s the latest what the national weather service says is our river level.

 

Life will be back to normal soon……..we’re safe, warm…have electricity and water, land phone lines forward to cell………septic system might be abit iffy so we won’t use any water that’s not needed…………..so we’ll keep meals simple, use paper plates etc….all the laundry is clean……………but the best thing…………I still have internet……I boated out last time in 1997…….I said I’d never do that again, so  here I stay living on my own private island.
